Science of Art: Recent Work
by Guhapriya Ranganathan and Nancy Selvage

April 28 - June 30, 2010

Kniznick Gallery, Women's Studies Research Center, Brandeis University

"Science of Art" showcased the work of two Boston-area artists who rely on scientific investigation and data to inform their creations. Guhapriya Ranganathan, a recent artist-in-residence at the Broad Institute in Cambridge, Mass., creates prints and drawings that reference neural networks, root structures, and organisms as seen through a microscope. Nancy Selvage creates large, site-specific sculptures made of perforated metal and other materials that invite the viewer to see in new ways by looking at, through, and around the pieces.
